Dressing for Success – 9 to 5 Chic

IMG_2048 (2)

Between rising temperatures outside and chilly air condition inside, dressing for the office in the summer can be a challenge.  You want to avoid the common mistake of under dressing.  When considering your work wardrobe, it’s okay to be trendy and show your personal style but keep it professional.  You’re at work not a beach party.  Go with a lightweight ensemble, keeping cool, chic and professional.  We paired a red trouser pants with an asymmetrical printed top and classic black pumps.  We tide the look all together with a great blazer and simple accessories.

Three important rules for making the right impression at work are: 1.) Presentation Counts 2.) Casual shouldn’t mean frumpy.  3.) Dress as you want to be seen.  When considering your work wardrobe be sure to size up your office.  If you want to be a manager, check out what the successful managers are wearing.  No need to copy their exact ensemble but use it as an inspiration or guideline.  Next, check out the office super stars, I’m sure their not wearing last weekend’s party attire.

The Little Black Dress: One Dress Styled Three Different Ways

It’s important to learn how to make your wardrobe work for you.  What’s the point in investing time and money into your wardrobe only to wear that outfit as you bought you.  Think outside the box, people and incorporate fashion into your wardrobe in a way that’s both unique and inspiring.  By doing this you will empower yourself.

Today’s fashion tip is all about one dress worn three different ways.  You can use these tips for all of your clothes in your wardrobe.  Just remember to think outside the box.  Enjoy the slide show below!

Style Tip #1: Add a blazer and a peep toe heel and wear it to the office.
Style Tip #2: Add a denim jacket, roll-up the sleeves, pop your collar, add funky accessories, sexy pumps and get your “Rock-Girl Glam” look on.
Style Tip #3: Add a chic sweater, elegant accessories, a classic pump and wear it to a formal occasion.

As you know, my favorite go-to-store is H&M.  They have this cool little feature on their website: “Dressing Room” where you can style models for fashion ideas.  Here is my latest purchase and how I would wear the dress!

Summer Time White! How to Wear It.

As we say goodbye to spring and welcome summer with open arms, it’s time to kick back & relax. Hangout with your closest friends and family, fire-up the grill, love, laugh, enjoy the beautiful weather.  It’s Summer Time!

There’s nothing like a fresh white ensemble to get you ready for the season.  Every woman and every body type can wear white, it’s all about how you jazz it up.

What’s important is you wear pieces that compliment your body type.

Below are a few pictures on how to incorporate it into your wardrobe.

Wear it casual at the beach, stylishly at brunch with girlfriends or take it to the office and still keep it professional.

Accessorize with bold or neutral tones.

Keep it clean with baby wipes or Tide stick.

Go Forth and be Fashionable!

H&M is a budget-conscious lady’s dream!!

I was in Vegas back in February for my best cousin Bachelorette / Birthday bash!! I kept telling myself that I was not going to spend any unnecessary money! That’s until we walked into my favorite store, H to the M (H&M)!  Their displays showcased one of my favorite trends for Spring and Summer!  It was all about the neutral tones paired with denim.

Any who…  I was “just looking” when I came across this beautiful gown…

H&M Gown

Worn to MOMS Club Founder's Day - April, 2011

When I purchased the dress I didn’t know where in the world I would wear it to.  A couple of months later when I was packing for Palm Springs for our MOMS Club Founder’s Day Event… I said out loud, The Dress!! I was thrilled that I could finally wear my “Gown”.

I felt absolutely beautiful in it and received a lot of compliments.

Thanks H&M for allowing this budget conscious lady look and feel absolutely fabulous!

Feeling Empowered

I hope you had a fabulous weekend =)

I would have to say my weekend was both Empowering and Fabulously-fun!

Empowering Volunteer Work…

My weekend started off bright and early Saturday morning to do some volunteer work for the Los Angeles Urban League Young Professionals.  We worked with the students of Crenshaw High School to help them understand the importance of dressing for success.  We provided tips and advice on what to wear to a job interview on the job.   The purpose behind this was to show the students that in job-hunting, first impressions are critical! It’s important to put your best foot forward and represent you, the product 100%.

After we finished our “what to wear and what not to wear” presentation, the students received a gift certificate to shop with a mentor for their appropriate job attire at the Del Amo Fashion Center.  I had the pleasure in shopping with two fabulous students! We hit it off right away and now I will be mentoring one of the young ladies.

What to wear to the job interview and to work!

A Colorful Story

From bold colors for our wardrobe and accessories, to funky-fresh colors for our nails! Spring is bigger and brighter than ever; and I’m loving it.  Flowers are blooming all around us, the sun is shining and our days are getting longer! It’s spring time baby!

My hot color picks of the day for your spring fashion ensemble are: Blue Curacao which pays respect to the 2010 Color of the Year, Turquoise.  This color is great because you can add a warm feminine touch with Coral Rose or Honeysuckle.

Tip of the Day: If you’re afraid of color, keep it simple! Try wearing a Khaki button-up dress, paired with dramatic accessories and a cute pair of flats.  Or if  your like me, keep it sexy with a cute open toe sandal.

Go forth and be fashionable!

xoxo
